Let’s Do It! Nigeria, the official host of World Cleanup Day in Nigeria, today announced Sunday, September 20, 2026, as World Cleanup Day and officially opened registration for participation nationwide. The theme for this year remains “Strive for Five” with the same bold target to get 5% of Nigeria’s population to participate in cleanup activities on September 20, 2026. Our goal is to drive mass civic action toward cleaner communities, better waste management, and a stronger culture of environmental responsibility. To participate, you can register as a group / organization including schools, faith groups, NGOs, and community-based association to host a cleanup in your chosen location. Individual can also register to host cleanup or participate in a cleanup group in their location. Individual that register will be assigned a cleanup location closest to them. All registrations can be completed at www.letsdoit.ng/2026-wcd-registration In our bid to further expand the impact of this year’s cleanup exercise, Let’s Do It! Nigeria will coordinate 20 Mega Cleanup locations across the country for this year’s World Cleanup Day. Each of the Mega location will host a minimum of 500 participants with a collective target to evacuate 2,500 kilograms of waste. This scale-up is designed to amplify visibility, deepen community engagement, and deliver measurable environmental results. Seun Osikalu, the Founder and Executive Chairman of Let’s Do it! Nigeria calls on corporate Nigeria with environment, climate change, circular economy and waste management ESG & CSR focus to adopt one or more cleanup locations and participate actively in this year’s World Cleanup Day. “By sponsoring PPE and cleanup materials/equipment in these locations, more Nigerians would he encouraged to take action in saving their environment therefore, preserving the world for the future.” The Founder also encourages the collaboration of corporate Nigeria in mobilizing their employees, customers, and communities to participate in support of reaching the 5% participation goal in Nigeria. “We also encourage some corporate Nigeria and brands that are already running cleanup actions across the country to come on board and share their impact data with us after cleanup action so it can be included in our national report to the United Nations.” On his part, the Country Leader, Let’s Do It! Nigeria, Mr. Olumide Coker, promised potential sponsors and partners that Let’s Do It! Nigeria platform would translate directly into measurable, visible impact - volunteers mobilized, kilograms of waste evacuated, and communities changed for good. “With World Cleanup Day action and our plans to for a national tree-planting drive in schools and a youth academy where young people would be trained to upcycle materials to make real income, the impact we would generate for partners would be deep and sustainable for partners who believe a cleaner Nigeria is everyone's responsibility.
